About Tilos

Tilos punches above its size as a nature destination: a designated bird sanctuary on the Europe-Africa migration route, with an unusually extensive network of marked hiking trails through mountains, gorges and abandoned medieval villages like Mikro Chorio.

With only a couple of small villages and barely any nightlife, Tilos suits travelers who hike by day and eat quietly by the water at night.

Tips

  • Hike the marked trail network between Livadia, Megalo Chorio and abandoned Mikro Chorio.
  • Visit in spring (April-May) for the best birdwatching during migration season.
  • Bring cash and shop in Livadia; elsewhere on the island options are limited.
