Nisyros
Nature and geology lovers wanting an authentic day-trip destination and a quiet overnight.
Fitting Nisyros into your route
About Nisyros
Nisyros is a still-active volcanic island built around a wide caldera you can walk right into: the Stefanos crater hisses with sulphur vents and bubbling mud, a short ride from Mandraki, the main port.
Most visitors come as a day trip from Kos, so anyone staying overnight has black-and-white Mandraki and the abandoned village of Nikia largely to themselves.
