About Lefkada
Lefkada is connected to the Greek mainland by a short causeway, making it the only Ionian island on this list reachable without a ferry. The west coast has beaches like Porto Katsiki and Egremni, with steep cliffs and crystal-clear water whose colour is closer to the Caribbean than the Mediterranean.
Lefkada Town itself has a distinctive architecture of low houses reinforced with metal and wood as protection against earthquakes. Nydri and the bay to the east of the island form an important hub for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
