About Karpathos
Karpathos sits between Rhodes and Crete and, thanks to its location, has kept a distinct, lesser-visited character. The mountain village of Olympos, at the northern tip, preserves traditions, folk costumes and even a local dialect that have disappeared elsewhere in Greece.
The east coast around Apella Beach is regarded as one of the most beautiful, least crowded beaches in the Dodecanese, while the west coast is known as one of the best windsurfing spots in Europe thanks to its steady wind. A rental car is essential to get the most out of Karpathos.
