About Kea

Kea, also called Tzia, is the closest Cycladic island to Attica, making it a favorite weekend escape for Athenians rather than a distant destination. Its capital, Ioulida, sits inland on a hillside rather than by the sea, with red-tiled roofs unusual for the Cyclades.

The island is covered in oak forests and crossed by an extensive trail network, including the path to the Lion of Kea, a large 6th-century BC rock carving.
