About Folegandros

Folegandros sits between Milos and Santorini but feels worlds away from both in atmosphere. The main village, Chora, balances on a cliff over 200 metres high and is one of the most dramatically situated villages in the Cyclades, without Santorini's mass tourism.

The island has relatively few beaches, but the handful that exist (like Katergo, reachable only by boat or a sturdy hike) are among the finest in the region. Folegandros mainly attracts hikers and photographers who take the time to discover the island at their own pace.

  • Walk to Katergo Beach, reachable only on foot or by boat, but worth it.
  • Chora is stunning at sunset from the square by the Panagia church.
  • Nightlife is minimal here, book this island as a rest stop in a longer route.
  • Ano Meria in the north gives a good sense of traditional farm life.
