About Alonnisos

Alonnisos is the least developed of the main Sporades and the gateway to the Alonnisos Marine Park, the largest protected marine area in the Mediterranean, home to the endangered monk seal. The old hilltop village (Palia Chora), largely abandoned after a 1965 earthquake, has been partly restored as a quiet artists' community.
