About Koufonisia

Ano Koufonisi (usually just called Koufonisia) is the smallest inhabited Small Cycladic island, yet the most popular of the group, prized for exceptionally clear turquoise water. Its flat, compact landscape is easy to explore on foot, with a coastal path linking the port to beaches like Pori and Fanos.

Despite growing popularity, Koufonisia has kept a village feel, with small family tavernas around the harbor.

Tips

  • Walk the coastal path to Pori beach — considered one of the best beaches in the Cyclades.
  • Book ferries and rooms well ahead for July and August; capacity is limited and demand high.
  • Rent a bike — the island is flat and small enough to explore entirely car-free.
